Relocations and In
Take: We had
20 placements this week.
6 Adopt
Group (Lizzie, Rusty, Blaze, Godzilla, Sonny, Gizmo)
3 Barn
in Double Oak (Bob, Buddy, Puddy)
2 Palo
Pinto (Carley, Shawna)
3 Barn
in Waxahachie (Grasshopper, Vegas, Chili)
3 Shed
in Flower Mound (Memphis, Mouser, Thumper)
1 Barn
in Flower Mound (Wazzy)
2 Garage
in Rockwall (Gracie, Sissy)
We
put Carley and Shawna in the same triple cage in Palo Pinto. When we opened the carriers Shawna ran into
the same carrier with Carley. THEY WILL
BE FAST FRIENDS, I am sure!
Our Cats after Release:
1. Iowa Park: Josie, Charlotte, and Christi were placed in
this barn. The food is disappearing and
there is always poop in the box but they are not showing themselves and/or
using the two hidey boxes that were made for them…but maybe they are just at
night.
2. Holliday: Sarah and Skipper went to this workshop in
Holliday, TX. Both have been spotted
around the property but are being illusive…pretty common for ferals.
April Closeout: We placed 45 cats in April in spite of my surgery
and no cats being placed before the 3rd week. They went to 8 Texas counties.

Bad Calls/EMAILS: Creating a Problem
for Yourself
Received
several calls from an elderly lady who wants me to take a problematic from her….no
problem but you need to bring it here…we do not pick up except at animal
services locations. BUT – she gets it
contained in a small carrier THEN tries to figure out what to do with it. That is backwards! You need to know WHAT/WHERE to take the cat
BEFORE you get it contained. Now you
have a crisis that you created…I could not really get her to understand –
bummer.
BMG: Weather Worries
Rain,
Rain, and more Rain! We traveled to Palo
Pinto and just got out before the afternoon storm. Our cats are safe – I checked the next
day. The tornado in Howe just missed our
Umi and Chi that were placed in a chicken coop inside the barn. The tornado hit the high school (we passed
that on the way to the barn location) and in Tom Bean just to the east of
Howe. They must have been terrified by
the strong winds but were very lucky it just went over their heads. What a week!
OMG: Declawed Cat on Craigslist:
UPDATE
UPDATE: Cat went to an adoption group on Monday, 4/25
and was adoption on Friday. The new
family loves her! ============
We
all know you never put animals on Craigslist.
There are folks out there looking for kittens to feed to their
snakes! I received an email from a
person who follows this blog that there was a declawed cat on Craigslist in a
community we service. We will be looking
for a front declawed cat in the June timeframe to put in a store in
Whitesboro. So, I spoke with the person
who posted the entry and she said the cat was with a neighbor who had gotten it
from an elderly woman who was going to a nursing home. Her kids wanted the cat but she does not want
to clean a litter box – surprise – they need to poop and pee! Anyway, we put a plan in place to pick up the
cat but when we got there (over 1 hour away) the owner does not want the cat
going to a group. SO – Nancy convinces
her that she will take the cats into her home.
The lady in standing in her open doorway holding the cat who is
squirming around because there is a guy across the street using a
jack-hammer! I am in the car thinking
“this could end badly”. In the end, the
owner decides to give the cat to Nancy and she successfully gets it into one of
our carriers. The cat is safe and will
soon be going to an adoption group who ALREADY HAS A NEW HOME FOR HER! YEAH!
I love it when a plan coming together.
Bluebonnets: FINALLY they are out. It has been a slower than usual season for
our state flowers and they are not as deep blue or as thick this year. This picture is from Wise County.
Thanks
