Barn Cat Bash Auction Update: Art Work
Relocations and In Take: Placed 9 this week with intake at 6.
2 Barn in Justin (Bradson and Blossom)
4 Garage in Greenville (Billy, Fluffy,
Blackie, Angel)
3 Bonham Rescue
UPDATE:
1.
The Fort Worth cats
are doing great at that garage on the Ridglea Country Club golf course. Both have “warmed up” to the family and
children and it appears to be a successful relocation!
2.
Weatherford: Put Carlos, a black medium-haired cat, in
this barn. He is now patrolling the
backyard, barn, and pasture and spends a lot of time on her porch. He has come to terms with her many dogs: Chelsea (lab mix), Bee (Heeler mix), and
Kechi (Bloodhound). Chelsea really likes
him and makes sure she rubs noses with him each time she leaves the house. If he is not on the porch, she goes looking
for him. Carlos is quite the hunter –
was out “killing” a rock the other evening!
3.
Flower
Mound: Simba was adopted by a
family. I think, their elderly cat had
passed away. We put 3 cats in a barn at
a riding stable in Flower Mound where this guy worked. SO – he asked if we ever got in friendly cats
AND Simba had just come in from a family who had a young child that had
developed severe allergies. All is well
with Simba now, for sure!
Our Cats after Release: Picked
up equipment in 6 locations this week and DID get some pictures.
1.
Forestburg: 6 were
placed here: Jefferson, Puffy, Liberty,
Pippa, Jena, and Silver. They are seen
running the property in the evening and early in the morning which is what
feral cats do! BUT – I did not see
anyone when I was there.
2.
Muenster: Put 4 in
this 8-wheeler trailer that sits permanently on their property: Beth, Barb, Brady, and Kendra. This is the home of the Forestburg land owner
– so he brought the equipment to Forestburg.
That was great but did not get to see any of the cats.
3.
Bartonville: Harley
is a happy boy at his new barn home in Bartonville. He has burrowed into the hay bales for a cozy
retreat.
4.
Flower Mound: Two cats from Lewisville Animal Services went
to this plant nursery in Flower Mound.
Nala (calico) and Dea (torti) are not RUNNING THE BUSINESS! Go see them at Schmidt’s Nursery on Main
Street.
5.
Waxahachie: I took equipment to this location and set it
up in a garage area. Then, 3 cats were
trapped and moved to the location from somewhere in Dallas where Southwest
Airlines is currently housed. They are
moving and the building is being torn down.
I never saw these cats…so…
6.
Whitewright: 3 groups of cats were placed on this property
where the land owner will be doing Great Pyrenees’ Rescue. She had 10 Great Pyres and a donkey,
too.
a. Speckles, Patch, and Sammy were first. She sees Patch almost every day. Sammy has been spotted but is pretty keeping
to himself as is Speckles.
b. Target, Tess, Four Paws and Dusty were in group
#2. Dusty is still skittish but Four
Paws sits on top of one of the dog kennels and watches her feed the goats. Tess and Target have takes up with Orange
Julius (her cat) and they are hanging out around the house/garage.
I think this is Target.
c. Bandit, Tabitha, Peanut and Red were all from a
veterinarian that had passed away.
Peanut and Red stay in their hidey boxes most of the day and I disturbed
them when I went to pick up equipment.
SO – I just left one of our carriers there. NO PROBLEM – want the cats to feel
secure. Bandit lets the owner pet him
and Tabitha sometimes comes out but had not gotten to the petting stage
yet.
Bad Calls/EMAILS:
Possum Kingdom Cats
There
are 5 cats living at a location somewhere around Possum Kingdom Lake. The care giver is moving to Wichita Falls to
have some surgery. There is no one to
continue feeding these cats which are already sterilized. SO – I will get them after the shots are
updated and they have had a negative test for feline leukemia. She has a friend that will do transport to
Lewisville.
BMG: Little Elm Property
I put
2 cats in a barn in Little Elm last year.
The property was FOR SALE but the renter assured me that she would take
the cats with her if/when she had to move.
WELL – drove past that property on Friday and it is still FOR SALE but
it is now vacant. Hope she took the cats
like she said!
OMG: Memorial for Jerry
On April 4th I
took in two brothers – Ben and Jerry – who were trapped at a location in
Dallas. They were very small – under
weight, etc. Little by little Ben got
sick and we think it was Calisi
Barn Cat Bash Auction:
Art Work
I found a terrific artist
in Santiago, Chile that does cat pictures.
She is very clever. I purchased
several in different sizes for the silent and live auctions. This one is for the live auction.
Close-up
Gay Kelly is an artist in
Highland Village, Texas. It is an original
oil painting. She had donated to us in
the past and will do a “painting of your pet”.
Hope I can get one of those donated for this year.
I found a work with
doggies “Dogs on Deck Chairs” – a really cute print. It is framed nicely and will also be on the
auction.
This cat was done by a
local artist in Hoi An, Viet Nam which is an artist colony. I love this big kitty!
Also have a
signed/numbered print from Bora Bora with a Polynesian lady holding a cat and
an original water color done by Eileen Seitz of Florida – a brightly-colored
tropical scene -- "Orchids Interior.
Hope you can come to the
Bash and “Thanks” for following the Barn Cats blog. See you next week! Peg
