Our Cats after Release:
1. Waco: Socks, Cinnabun, and Irving went to a
workshop across the driveway from the main house. All three have been spotted. The family is keeping a litter box and it had
been used when I picked up equipment.
2. Italy: Sam, Benny, and Outlander went to this
workshop/garage in Italy. I did not see
them but food is disappearing from the feeders.
Good Luck, Boys!
3. Duncanville: Chip, Pistachio, and Cherry are doing great
in Duncanville. They have new beds and
hidey boxes in this workshop. They can
come and go via a window and all three are making themselves know to the
family.
4. Keller: Popcorn, Peanut, and Molly went to this
scenic property in Keller. All have been
spotted and they should do very well there.
The family just purchased this property and it came with LLAMAS! YEAH!
5. Copper Canyon: Grayson and Riley and going great…but…they do
not seem to get along with the other cat I put there….Godzilla. BUT – they have worked out “territory” and
should do well with this family.
6. Royce City: Cricket sent to this workshop/storage
location with Heidi and Nigel. Nigel has
worked his way into the house and is now sleeping on the back of the family
sofa! WAY TO GO NIGEL! Cricket had a scratched eye and needed
medication for about a week and a half.
I returned her last week.
Calls/Emails: Bad Smell
In
15 years, I have placed over 6,000 cats in the 37 North Texas counties and 5
Southern Oklahoma counties that we service.
This week a barn owner called where I have put cats a week before. He said that the cats were “smelling up the
barn” and he did not know what to do.
Would they poop outside after release or in a stall in the barn? Don’t know…it is up to each cat. We do not know if he is hyper-sensitive to
that smell or what. AT ANY RATE, I will
pick up the cats and put them somewhere else if that is what he wants. There is no right or wrong answer here. What is right is what works for that
family. Something new each and every
week!
BMG: Declawed Cat
I
received a call from a person that took a cat from a breeder closing down in
another state. She took the declawed can
but now has determined that it is feral.
She wanted Barn Cats to take this cat.
NO – a declawed cat cannot protect itself from predators in a barn
environment. What are you thinking? OOPS – you made a mistake but I cannot help
you with this one. Bet that breeder know
it was feral and declawed it so she could breed it without getting hurt. BUMMER for the cat!
OMG: Waco National Mammoth
Monument
Three
weeks ago when I took cats to Waco, I passed this area. This week when I picked up equipment I
stopped for the tour. Well – I did not
know there ever were mammoths in Texas BUT – they were not Woolly Mammoths but
Columbian Mammoths. Who knew! The Woolly Mammoths were only as far south as
Kansas. Ours do not have all that body
hair – just a little on their backs and heads as protection from the sun. They are the biggest mammoths at 14 feet tall
at the shoulders. This property was a
dairy farm when the bones were discovered.
Now it is a National Park! Here
are the pictures…
