TRANSITION
UPDATE: Only one cat is currently
left at my home. She will be going out
this Thursday to Anna with 2 others from Mid-Cities Community Cats. Barn Cats is transiting over to being a
referral. When a barn owner calls or
emails, I will contact them, see if it is a viable location for the cats, then
contact another group to get their cats delivered to the property.
Four groups have started:
Mid-Cities Community Cats
Dallas Cat Lady
Feral Friends
Panther City Feral Cat Coalition
Two
are still considering: One in Garland and one in Flower Mound
I
have been working with each group to train them in now barning should be done
to ensure the cats remain as safe as we can make them. All my equipment is being distributed out to
each of these groups. The stationary
folding cages with the rolling carts are going first then the relo equipment as
I work with each group at whatever location is needed. Then only the winter relo supplies will be
left. The good news is that the location
where I am moving is now scheduled for move in in August rather than July…I
have an extra month. THANK GOD!
The
bad news is that working with 4 to 6 groups is 4 to 6 times HARDER than just
working with one (Operation Kindness).
If you don’t know, they agreed to take over Barn Cats last August then
in March changed their mind. I could
have just moved cats, caging, and supplies to one location and trained a couple
of people – BUT NO – now it is 6 times harder and more complicated. Oh well – Operation Kindness lost me as a
volunteer, all the equipment, the truck, the shed and future donations from me
and all the people I know.
At
least there is now a “plan” and it has been set in motion. I will continue the BLOG to keep everyone
informed. Thanks for your continuing
support of Barn Cats.
Thanks
for following the Barn Cats Blog. Peg
