Relocations and In Take:   Placed 5 this week with intake at 11.
2          Garage in Denton (Heckel and Jeckel)
1          Adoption group (Roo)
2          Garage in New Fairview (Malcolm and Derrick)

Cats after Release:      Picked up in St. Jo and Joshua on Sunday.
1.      St. Jo – Sassy, Janice, Kenny, and Carlton were placed in this barn.  I did not see anyone but the barn owner has seen all 4 on the property.  He has a donkey and a Great Pyrenees to protect our kids.
2.      Joshua – The equipment was outside and the barn closed so I did not disturb/see the cats (Spanky, Sebastian, Sammy).  BUT – the barn owners have seen a bunch of mouse/rat bodies – SO – KILLER CATS ON THE LOOSE!

2013 Closeout:
721           Cats Placed for a Grand Total of 5,001
31,373      Miles travel to the 37 North Texas Counties that we service
1,207        Gallons of Gasoline purchased

Calls/EMAILS You Don’t Want to Get:   Received a call from a lady trying to place a cat.  Asked her for a timeframe and was told TODAY.  WELL – I don’t think so.  The only place you can place a cat placed that fast is at a local KILL SHELTER – the city municipal shelters that do animal services for a city or a county.  You need an appointment to take a cat to a no-kill shelter.  All the other groups do foster homing and will need to have an open home to place your cat.  All those groups go to PetsMart and Petco locations each and every Saturday and Sunday and each store has different groups.  There are 200-300 foster homing groups in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  For the most part, it does no good to call them.  You will be leaving a message in a BLACK HOLE.  You need to go to PetsMart and Petco stores when the groups are there and talk to someone face to face.  OK?  When you know you will need to give up your pet, PLAN FOR IT!

BMG:  You know, Barn Cats along with any other non-profit organization lives and dies by its volunteer base.  BUT – you need folks you can count on.  I have really been disappointed in some folks lately.  IT IS ALWAYS SOMETHING!

OMG:  Well I have done the 2013 closeout (see above) and even gotten all the info collected/organized for our taxes.  YEAH!  MANY THANKS to Neighbor Nancy for helping get all the receipts/checks organized.  With more cats placed each year, we collect more monies that leads to more and more complicated taxes.  OUCH!

Thanks for following the Barn Cats blog.  See you next week!           Peg
