Bad Calls/Emails:  Phone Message at 1:29 AM – What?
BMG (Bitch/Moan/Groan:  Cat in a Pillow Case
OMG (Oh My God):  Sage in Bloom!

Relocations and In Take:   We placed 13 this week.
1                 Garage in Southlake (Julie)
2                 Barn in Montague County (Felix, Foster, Zippy)
8          Garage in Collinsville (all from animal services)
2          Workshop in Rockwall (Sparrow, Belle)

I put Sparrow and Belle in the same triple cage.  Belle immediately came out of her carrier and got in with Sparrow – SOOOOO CUTE!

Our Cats after Release:
1.     Forney:  Benny and Tam went to this horse riding stable in Forney.  Both are hiding out but have been seen early in the mornings.  All is good in Forney!
2.     Sherman:  Billy Bob went to this barn home on the far southeast side of Sherman.  He has not left the barn and stays on top of the tack room.  He comes down for food and pets.  The barn owner loves him!   WAY TO GO BILLY BOB!

3.     Argyle:  Nicole and Sophie went to this barn.  One has become “dominate” but the other just keeps out of her way.  There is another cat on the property too and all three have adjusted well.

Bad Calls/Emails:  Phone Message at 1:29 AM – WHAT?
A woman let me a message in the middle of the night.  I called her back in the morning and left a message.  She called me back in the afternoon.  After discussing her cat problem, I “read her the riot act” about calling people in the middle of the night.  The good news is that I sleep with the phone 3 rooms away.  THANKS GOD!

BMG:   Cat in a Pillow Case
I have placed over 6,000 cats with Barn Cats, Inc. over the past 15 years.  BUT – this is the first time I have ever had a cat delivered here in a pillow case AND if was tied together with a zip tie.  What next?

OMG:  Sage in Bloom
Sage is in bloom in our area.  Just saw this at lunch…beautiful.

Bad Calls/Emails:  Bad Barn Location
BMG (Bitch/Moan/Groan:  Problematic Relocation
OMG (Oh My God):  Barn in Emory

Relocations and In Take:   We placed 22 this week.
3          Barn in Gunter (Midnight, Mike, Hannah)
3          Front Porch in Cleburne (Rachael, Randy, Peaches)
3          Barn in Alvarado (Birdie Mae, Daisy Mae, Cora Mae)
3          Barn in Ponder (Doris, Deena, Dolly)
4          Barn in Roanoke (Charlie, Charlene, Linny, Sparkle)
1          Adopted by Volunteer (Junior)
5          Barn in Emory (Cleo, Venus, Wanda, Sabrina, Matilda)

Our Cats after Release:
1.     Collinsville:  Reagan and Sawyer were placed in this garage.  Both are doing great – getting along with the two dogs and the 2 kids.
2.     Collinsville:  Tigger, Shiloh, Cleo, Tabby, Duchess, Speedy, and Spider went to this property with many out-building (garage, sheds, and barn).  They see them early in the morning and at dusk.  Most are hanging out in the barn rather than the shed/cat house.
3.     Sherman:  Sheila, Ricky, Rudy, and Juno went to this barn connected to the house in Sherman.
4.     McKinney:  A total of 6 cats were placed here.  The last two (Yellow and Flower) are doing well.  The cats are eating in multiple locations – next door neighbor’s house and across the back field with another neighbor…but…they also come “home” to eat and hang out.  All is well in McKinney.
5.     Azle:  Sunny went to this barn in Azle.  He is going well and they are seeing signs of his “work”.

Bad Calls/Emails:  Bad Barn Location
A location we turned down (cat-killing dogs, inadequate shelter, shed next to the main road) has contacted another group to get some cats.  MISTAKE:  the property owner said “Peggy turned us down” – OOPS – Do you think we all do not know each other?  WRONG!

BMG:   Problematic Relocation
When we placed the cats, it usually takes 30 to 40 minutes.  But this week, one took 1 ½ hours!  We could not seem to get the owner’s attention…phone calls, children running around, dogs loose and scaring the cats, and on and on and on.  We were about nuts when we finally left.  It is not a bad place for the cats but folks just don’t realize this is LIFE OR DEATH FOR THESE CATS.  So, just give us 30 minutes of your attention and the relo will go smoothly.

OMG:  Barn in Emory
I traveled 2 hours to reach this location east of Emory in East Texas.  When I arrived (in a driving rain storm) they had purchased a “cat house” at Home Depot for our “kids”.  Here is the set up plus a close-up of Matilda who was first out of her hidey box.

Our Cats after Release
Bad Calls/Emails:  Feeder / Breeder
BMG (Bitch/Moan/Groan:  All Night Screamers
OMG (Oh My God):  Sophie and Nicole

Relocations and In Take:   We placed 8 this week.  We are only putting cats in areas with good insulation and ventilation and all have a fan.

3          Adoption Group (Mazie, 2 from North Carolina)
2          Barn in Forney (Tam, Benny)
3          Barn in Fairview (Franklin, Peter Pan, Captain Hook)

Our Cats after Release:
1.     Copper Canyon:  Mama Kitty and Happy went to this barn on the other side of Flower Mound.  They are going inside a wall for protection (and not using the hidey box prepared for them – Geez) but are still around and doing well.
2.     Ponder:  Elmer and Shelby went to this barn.  Elmer has taken off but Shelby is still there are doing well.  You never know…
3.     Rockwall:  Merrell, Dude, and Clark were placed in a workshop in Rockwall.  They have not been seen but the food is disappearing – so all is well.
4.     Ponder:  Linda, Lola, and Lottie went to a barn in Ponder just behind the house.  They have been spotted in the evening running between trailers on the property.  All are well.
5.     Haslet:  This workshop got Motley, a large torti.  She is friendly and doing well but has yet to leave the workshop.  She feels safe in the workshop, I guess.

Bad Calls/Emails:  Feeder / Breeder
I have received several multiple-cat calls this week…”I just started feeding these cats because they were so hungry…now I have 20” – YES – that is what happens when you don’t spay/neuter.  We call that FEEDER – BREEDER!  You need to fully take care of a cat – not just feed it.  You will be sorry!

BMG:   All Night Screamers
We have had a series of cats released to us that are ALL NIGHT SCREAMERS.  This is not a problem in a shelter situation – no people are there at night.  BUT – I am trying to sleep in the next room so this all night screaming is BAD!  I hope to get all of those problematic cats placed next week…then I can get some sleep.

OMG:  Sophie and Nicole
These two friendly girls went to a barn in Argyle last Sunday.  Well, this week we had 100 to 107 degree days!   One of the things we recommend is to free a plastic water bottle and put them in the cages.  Sophie really got into it!    Take a look –
