BLOG on Vacation until 8/13/17

Seeking someone to take over Barn Cats, Inc.:  I would like to officially retire as Executive Director in 2019.  I can retain the fundraising pieces but would like to stop the relocations, equipment pickups, phone calls, and emails…the day-to-day stuff.  I will be available for consultation.  If interested call or email Barn Cats…972-315-2875 info@barncats.org

OMG (Oh My God):  Wonderful Mail Box

Relocations and In Take:   I placed 8 this week.
2          Barn in Bartonville (Millie, Bonnie)
3          Garage in Arlington (Ginger, Emerald, Fiesta)
2          Adoption Group (Curry, Stormy)
1          Patio in Melissa (Ciro)

Our Cats after Release:
1.     Fort Worth:  Bronx, Doris, Cargo, and Aster went to this dog kennel in northern Fort Worth.  All are hanging out and have been spotted.  GOOD NEWS!  The property owners returned the caging to Lewisville so I did not get to see any of them.
2.     Pilot Point:  Lucy and Leon are in this barn that is heated in the winter.  Lucy is being illusive but Leon is making up for it.  Way to go, Leon!
3.     Melissa:  Lee, Kara, and Sadie were placed in this workshop environment.  Two have been spotted recently – so 2 out of 3 is about average.  I hope those two are there for many years to come.
4.     Duncanville:  Tommy, Marta, Sammy, and Sara went to this back porch.  All are spotted regularly.  They sent me a picture of Sara.  She had been rolling in the CAT NIP that grows just off the patio.

Calls/Emails:  Moving Tomorrow
Sure I can help you – moving tomorrow with kittens – no phone number – no city – What?  AND – this was an email not even a phone call.

BMG:   No Entry This Week

OMG:  Wonderful Mail Box
Take a look – really clever!

Relocations and In Take:   I placed 10 this week.
2          Barn in Pilot Point (Leon, Lucy)
3          Back Porch in Rockwall (Dollie, Sadie, Missy)
2          Garage in Garland (Andrew, Brooklyn)
1          Indoor Home in Quinlan (Junior)
2          Garage in Highland Village (Marilyn, Sassy)

Our Cats after Release:
1.     Longview:  Jamie, Jimmy, and Jerry went to this property with several barns.  They have just been released but are still all around.
2.     Fort Worth:  Serenity, Holiday, Paradise, and Argo went to this barn with free-roaming chickens.  All have been spotted.  They are using the litter box and eating canned food each evening.  Best of all:  NO MORE RODENT DROPPINGS!
3.     Sunnyvale:  Coco, Misty, and Bandit have all been spotted on this property in Sunnyvale.  Also, they are still using the litter box and eating regularly.
4.     Haslet:  Candy and Sadie went to this air-conditioned workshop in Haslet.  Candy is friendlier and Sadie hides.  I saw Sadie in a corner behind some tools.  Both are doing well.
5.     Flower Mound:  Sid, CY, and Dreamer were placed in this workshop.  I went over and moved them next door to a garage area with their own large hidey box.  They are out and about on the property and not staying in the garage area.   I told the owner to get back to me after a week if they do not show back up…but I’ll bet they are still around.
6.     Plano:  Freddy, Kitty, and Sadie went to this workshop.  All are friendly cats from Lewisville Animal Services.  All are handing around and doing well.  This is Freddy.  I got a picture of Kitty but it is too dark – she is a dark torti.  Freddy looks like he is enjoying himself, for sure!

June Closeout:  Placed 49 is June with is about average for a June.  They were in 7 North Texas counties:
            Collin              Denton            Hunt                Tarrant
            Dallas              Gregg              Rockwall

Calls/Emails:  Kittens at Babe’s Restaurant in Carrollton
I received an email from someone about those kittens.  I forwarded it to a rescuer who lives in Carrollton and does trapping.  SHE HAD ALREADY BEEN OVER THERE ARE TRAPPED 4 – GREAT!  …but no sign of mama….BUMMER!

BMG:   People Want Me to Call Them Back
Folks just don’t realize how many people call me to take their cats.  I tried keeping a list but it was hard to reach people and just became a mess.  SO – You are feeding those cats every day so it is on your mind.  Just call me back in late August when it will be cooler.  I will NEVER REMEMBER to call you back.

OMG:  Voice Mail Box is Full
You know:  If you leave me a message, I will “try” and call you back.  This one lady left a message – she will never answer the phone (I have called about 6 times), I cannot leave a message, AND she did not return a text.  OK – I have tried.  Sorry for those cats!

Sleeping Jeffy:  This is Jeffy-Jeffy. I got him with his brother Crinkles several years ago from a hoarding situation that Feral Friends cleaned out.  He is on the back of the sofa with his paw/head resting on the church pew that is behind it.  AHHHHHHH!
