2.     The Barn Cat mailing has changed:  PO Box 12642, Dallas, TX  75225.  Letters will be going out this week with the new information.

Still have a workshop in Princeton that requested 2 friendly cats.  DCL is working with someone to get 2 friendlier cats out there.

Our Cats after Release:    Oklahoma Cats
All 7 cats are doing well.   The equipment was picked up this weekend.  The property owners asked to keep the caging longer that usually required – if it makes the relocations better, OK!

Calls/Emails:  Requests to take in Cats
I am referring to the groups above based on where the cats are located.  I hope this is working out…I have not had repeat calls so think this is OK.

OMG:  Vacation Schedule
I am leaving town 11/20 returning on 12/13.  I am trying to figure out how the handle my cats here because security is tight.  A vet tech from All Care does not live far but then she may have a problem getting into my unit each day.  She would have to come to the concierge, check in, and then have someone walk her to my apartment.  BUT – she is a vet tech and could give the cats their monthly B-12 shots and daily pills with no problem.  I could put caging up at a friend’s house BUT then getting shots and pills could be a problem.  I don’t know what to do.  I always thing living them in their home where they are comfortable would be the best answer.  Tis a puzzlement…as the King used to say!

BMG:  FINALLY – COOLER WEATHER!
The temps have finally dropped and the RATS ARE RUNNING!   Got one barn call this week and passed along to GNB for placement next weekend.   This will be for 3 ferals.

TRANSITION UPDATE

Relocations:   Placed 3 this week.
3          Workshop in Gordonsville (3 by MCCC)

Our Cats after Release:    Van Alstyne 3 Cats Doing Well
3 cats were place by MCCC in Van Alstyne in a workshop situation.  He does not see them but the food is disappearing and the litter boxes is used…so…all good news.

Calls/Emails:  Extreme Situations
1.     Many cats have been abandoned when a person moved out in the Decatur area.  GEEZ == take them with you or make arrangements.  Don’t just move out and leave the mess for someone else.  This neighbor is concerned and cannot afford to feed them.  I gave her several recommendations/phone numbers.  Hope it works out for the cats.
2.     A second situation is that an elderly person died and the cats are left on their own.  This is another rural situation in Hunt County.  I referred the caller to Hunt County Pets Alive – hope they can help out.
Both of the above were 15 to 20 cats each and, of course, not sterilized.  There are spay/neuter clinic everywhere…JUST USE THEM!

OMG:  Still No Barn Calls
Only received one this week.  I guess it is the weather….nothing else to blame it on…???  I am going to do a mailing in the next week or 2 and hope that generates some business.  There is supposed to be a cold front headed this way.   Hope the RATS START RUNNING!

BMG:  Sick Cats in Anna
3 of those elderly cats are now having health problems.  It is usually kidney or liver failure that gets older cats.  2 are having kidney problems but are on medication and responding.  Sorry to be having the Anna folks saddled with the responsibility of vet visits.   We pay the bills but they do the appointments and medications.   MANY THANKS, Deni and Aaron!

Our Cats after Release:    The Oklahoma Cat Are Doing Well
Both PCFCC and GP have cats that we placed in Oklahoma.  They have both talked to the property owners and the cats are doing well.  They have asked to keep the caging for an extra week or two and that has been arranged.

Calls/Emails:  Many Calls from Out-of-State
One day, I received 3 calls from California…???  …and that mode has continued through the week.  Also, many call to release cats but only 1 that wants cats.   Unsure why this trend is upon us.   Wish it would pass.  SO MANY FERALS ARE DYING IN SHELTERS!!!!!!!1

OMG:  Anna Catio
I went to Anna this week to take some extra sheets, towels, and beds.  The cats appear to be enjoying their outdoor area.  Also, they are no longer peeing on the beds, etc. inside but using the ground….good work!  The cat doors have been mounted in the windows and it is partially covered.  They seem to be enjoying the outdoors.

BMG:  We Need Barns!!!
We are not getting very many barn calls…???  Yes – it is still hot in the daytime but in the 70’s at night so we need to get some placed.  I am planning on a fall fundraising letter to get more $$$ but also to remind barn owners we are still out here.   We are in process of updating the Facebook page and hope that will help.   Spread the word – we are still out here!
