BMG (Bitch – Moan - Groan)

Relocations and In Take:   Placed 15 this week with intake at 5 (finally catching up) :
3          Dallas Apartment Complex (Sylvia, Gray Boy, Old Yellar)
3          Barn in Coupland (Blackie, Sassy, Kristi)
4          Garage in Argyle Lucy, Ricky, Ethel, Fred)
1          Plant nursery in Frisco (see (Our Cats after Release) (Topper Tabby))
2          Barn in Sanger (Grady and Armand)
2          Backyard in Sachse (Denny Dora)

You know – I get several calls a months to remove cats from apartment complexes. Well this week we PLACED some cats at an apartment. A former tenant had indoor/outdoor cats that controlled the rodents and snakes (vacant lot next door). Those folks MOVED and now they are being overrun.  The manager called Barn Cats and now there are 3 cats in cages next to their pool area. They want 3 additional when this group is released, as well. YEAH!

The Argyle garage listed above had a snake problem. Neighbors got cats so the snakes moved next door to their house. NOW – 4 cats are caged in that garage – BYE BYE SNEAKEY SNAKES!

Our Cats after Release:
·         Prosper:   Jenny – They let her out for a few moments in the backyard and in 3 seconds, she caught a mouse! GOOD JOB! She will keep the entire neighborhood clear of rodents!

·         Ennis:  Have a picture down below – cat caught a mouse and ATE IT while we were picking up equipment…GROSS! I sent a picture to my volunteers with the caption “Lunch?”

·         Frisco:   I put 2 cats out at a plant nursery in Frisco 5 or 6 years ago. One of those guys recently passed away from “natural causes” – usually kidney or liver failure that gets cats.  Well, his friend is having trouble keeping up…Christina. I think it is because she is now the size of a small European city!!!!! I put Topper Tabby out there and he is getting along fine.

·         McKinney:  Finally connected with the barn owner in McKinney. Harley is doing great and she is considering making her a “house cat”.   ….well you never know!

Phone Calls/Emails You Don’t Want to Get:
·         Last week I placed some cats for a rescue in Weatherford. Now I got an email that they are working with a group called Cattailz out of south Fort Worth to do some barning. Well – what can you do?

BMG:
·         I receive calls day and night from people trying to release cats to Barn cats. I only have a limited number of cages and when they are full – I am full – until a barn owner calls. I have no control over the barn calls. When a call comes in, I look at inventory and select a set of cats to go to that particular location. I advise folks to call me once a week to see if I have an opening. I have been telling this particular lady to call on Wednesdays. Wednesday of last week, she was getting impatient because she is moving in June. BUT – THIS WEEK I COULD TAKE HER CATS but she did not call….GO FIGURE!

·         Several weeks ago I mentioned that I got a call from Coupland (not in our area) confused with Kaufman (in our area). BUT – there is a group doing barning in that county. SO – I sent them an email to contact that lady and let me know now it went. Unfortunately – they never responded. SO – I met her in Temple and we did a cat swat in a Crackerbarrel Restaurant parking lot. She had a room to keep them in and everything is going well. Blackie is still hiding out in his carrier, Sassy is out and playing, and Kristi (feral) is out of the carrier but hiding.

Thanks for following the Barn Cats blog.  See you next week!           Peg
