Relocations and In Take:   Placed 13 this week with intake at 7.
6          Barn in Rockwall (Mary Ann, Ginger, Gilligan, Randi, Lori, Larry)
1          Garage/backyard in Corinth (Mouse)
6          Bonham Rescue

Got to the Rockwall location and where was their llama at the front gate.  He followed us to the barn but was then a “problem” getting out of the gate because he wanted to go with us!   But, here is the interesting part….his name is OBAMA, THE LLAMA.  Take a look – I can see a resemblance – can you?

Cats after Release:      Picked up equipment in 4 locations this week in 3 counties.
1.      Flower Mound (Sasha, Blackie, Donny):  These 3 cats were placed in a riding stable in Bridlewood.  They have all moved in with the grooms…so all is well in Flower Mound.

2.      Morgan (Bizzy, Perry):  These 2 were placed at a rehab center in a garage.  There has been a name change to Smokey and the Bandit.  SO – Bandit is the black cat and Smokey is the tabby.  Both came from Lewisville Animal Services.

                       Bandit

3.      New Fairview #1:  Derrick and Malcolm went to this garage.  I did not see them but both are doing well.  They came from the Tri-City Shelter south of Dallas.

4.      New Fairview #2:  Tory and Loki were placed here in a workshop.  Jennifer is the mom of 3 young boys….then I show up with 2 more boys!   All are doing well.

Calls/EMAILS You Don’t Want to Get:  Tootles - This is weird.  Tootles originally came to Barn Cats in the fall and I placed her and Custard in a barn WAY OFF THE ROAD in Flower Mound.  Both were feral.  After release, the ranch manager was feeding them twice each day.  Tootles turned up missing about a week ago.  WELL – she was found at Circle R Ranch (an event center) in a kitchen cupboard by a member of their staff.  This location is WAY OFF THE ROAD and her barn is WAY OFF THE ROAD!   She got all the way over there and was captured by Flower Mound Animal Services.  SHE IS MICRO-CHIPPED!   So I got a call to pick her up there.  Check out the picture.  You can see Custard but she is the one hiding.  I now have her at my house and SHE HAS TURNED FRIENDLY!   Truth is stranger than fiction!

BMG:  Leukemia Testing - SUCCESS!   I had a meeting with the head of Lewisville Animal Services and they agree that leukemia testing needs to be done.  We kicked off the program with a $500 donation to purchase the tests.   MANY THANKS to LVAS!

OMG:  Vultures in my Neighborhood – Heard a rumor that vultures had been released around our area to “pick up dead stuff” so was not SHOCKED to see them in my neighborhood.  A rabbit had been run over in the street and they were having a snack.  Could not get a picture of the dining experience but … got what I could.

Thanks for following the Barn Cats blog.  See you next week!           Peg
