Relocations and In Take:   We had 13 placements this week…finally!
2          Barn in Rockwall County (Sandy, Sophia)
2          Garage in Frisco (Mallory, Sally)
8          Adoption Group (Ethel, Cheddar, 3 from Lewisville AS, 3 from Grand Prairie AS)
1          Bonham Rescue

Our Cats after Release:
1.     Cleburne:  Heide, Toby, and Little Girl were placed in this workshop.  It is an older building and perfect for some feral cats.  They are all on top of a storage room, up high and safe.  Property owners have put the feeder up there with them.  ALL GOOD!
2.     Ivanhoe:  Ann, Georgia, and Mandy went to this storage shed.  All three have been seen on the property – good news!

September Closeout
This was the WORST SEPTEMBER EVER in the 13-year history of Barn Cats, Inc.  I blame it on the still HOT WEATHER.  Rodents start running when it cools off at night.  We are 153 behind September last year.  Total placements were 15 in the following counties:
            Collin              Dallas              Fannin

Bad Calls/EMAILS:  You Cannot Do Everything
Rescuers sometimes try to solve all problem for every person.  That is just not possible unless you have unlimited financial resources, many volunteers, and lots of space like a warehouse.  Their hearts are in the right place but that is about it.  You have to narrow down what you do and then do those tasks the best possible way using the resources you have.  Trying to do everything will just drive you crazy and use up all you money.   Then…you can do nothing!

BMG:  Rodents Attract Snakes – UPDATE!
I received an email from a location requesting 3 cats…GREAT – FINALLY!   I return this the “barn owner questions” and he responded with “My wife wants to wait to see if the one cat they have can handle the rats and rice by herself.”  OK – but remember:  rats and mice attract SNAKES and nobody wants SNAKES!  I was very disappointed because they wanted 3 cats.
UPDATE:  He sent an email on Monday because they saw a snake on Sunday – HA HA!  Told him I put it there!   They changed to 2 cats but both were delivered on Thursday.

OMG:  Cannot Afford to Feed / No Transportation
If you get the first cat fixed, you don’t have a bunch of cats to feed.  Also, this person is in Longview – out of our 2-hour limit around Dallas/Fort Worth but she does not drive this far….but it is OK for us to drive that far.  Hummm!  There is bound to be someone in that Longview / Tyler area that can help her.  Look locally or be prepared to transport yourself or find someone to transport.  There are adoption groups all over Dallas/Fort Worth but you would have to bring them here not expect local groups to come to you.

Witch Hat Weekly Special Photo – Ian
Featuring one of Julie’s cats this week…Ian.  He is a large male and the king of the household.  Don’t think he is really happy with the hat.

Zombies and Water Slides
I always like to catch interesting photos to share.  The first was in Bonham “Zombie Response Vehicle” (unaware they had zombies in Bonham) and the second is a neighborhood with a 3-story water slide in their side-yard.  Sorry I could not get closer to the slide!

Thanks for following the Barn Cat Blog.  See you next week!       Peg
