3          Workshop in Blue Ridge (3 from MCCC)

Also checked out a barn/shed in Cedar Hill but it was full of equipment (no room for caging) and just not enough air flow for summer in Texas.  We will be waiting for fall for that location.

Our Cats after Release:
1.     Decatur – 5 MCCC cats were placed in this big shed in Decatur.  All 5 have been spotted so looks like it went well.
2.     Gunter – 3 from Garland were placed in this AIR CONDITIONED office connected to the barn in Gunter.  2 were friendly and 1 other is skittish…but….all 3 are hanging around.  They agree with me – LOVE AIR CONDITIONING!   HA HA!

Calls/Emails:  Older Cats being removed from Apartment -- UPDATE
Received a call a Dallas location.  New management “wants the cats gone – NOW!”  The same person has been feeding them for about 10 years.  The good news is that there is a location that wants BIG CATS so will try and place them in their shed.  Hope this works out for the sake of the cats.  Will have an update next week. UPDATE:  The male cat did not like me…hiss, hiss.  So, I asked the person who has been caring for them for over 10 years to go along.  I put up a cage in a backyard under a cabana (with good fencing in the yard) and she helped with the relocation.  Sally and Steve went here.  Hope they do well!!!   UPDATE:  Going to move them to an out-building on Wednesday this week.  There is a window so they can come and go and it will be better when cold weather comes around.

OMG:   Older Cat Does Not Look Good
I put 2 cats out 9 years ago in a barn in Highland Village.  The owners have sold the property and the new owners wanted to keep Sweet Pea.  The other cat is gone…???  The daughter of the former owners went over to feed Sweet Pea because the new owners are out of town.  She reported back to her mom that Sweet Pea “does not look good”.  She called me and I advised that she should take her to our vet and we will get her checked out and treated as needed.  She is still at the vet clinic…testing, etc. to be done on Monday.  Update next week!  UPDATE:  This is Sweet Pea.  She tested negative and got her shots updated on Monday.  I placed her at our Elder Care Facility – in their workshop – on Sunday.  She was out of the carrier and taking it all in immediately.  That was better than when she was here for a week…she rarely came out when I was around but always ready for canned food!

UPDATE:   Friendly Cat in Lancaster - ADOPTED
Received a call from a lady who was having to put her father in an assisted living facility.  A friendly cat had shown up there many months before and now would be abandoned.  Also, the daughter has a terminal illness.  His name is Meow-Meow and is a brown tabby.  I told her I would take him but she would have to deliver him to the vet we use in Coppell.  She did that on Monday.  He tested negative and now is loose in my house waiting for an opening at Petco.  Glad I could help – the cat deserves it!
UPDATE:  Meow-Meow is still with me.  There has not been an opening yet at Petco.
UPDATE:  He is going to Petco on Monday, July 1st!!!!!  All good news!!!!
UPDATE:  He was adopted this week to an indoor home.   YEAH TEAM!

TRANSITION UPDATE:   I gave more equipment to MCCC this week.  They are doing the most placements right now.  ALSO – Good news that the truck has a buyer.  We will close the deal in August after I get it UN-WRAPPED and checked out by the dealer.  GOOD NEWS!

Thanks for following the Barn Cats Blog.            Peg

  1. I think events like this really help to improve the overall status of the society. I think lots of people are participated in the GiveLocalAmerica program, an online giving and crowd funding platform. Please update more details regarding this program.Jogos 2019
