Calls/Emails:  Feral Friends to be placing some Cats
Had a conference call on Sunday with 2 folks from Feral Friends.  Went over what to look for in a good barn, how to place them (caging, etc.), questions to ask barn owners before you agree to take out cats, weather concerns in summer and winter, placement of cat doors (best in a window that gets it off the ground and other critters don’t come in), etc. etc.   They got several barn possibilities in Lucas and Fairview.   GOOD LUCK!

OMG:   Older Cat Does Not Look Good -- UPDATE
I put 2 cats out 9 years ago in a barn in Highland Village.  The owners have sold the property and the new owners wanted to keep Sweet Pea.  The other cat is gone…???  The daughter of the former owners went over to feed Sweet Pea because the new owners are out of town.  She reported back to her mom that Sweet Pea “does not look good”.  She called me and I advised that she should take her to our vet and we will get her checked out and treated as needed.  She is still at the vet clinic…testing, etc. to be done on Monday.  Update next week!  UPDATE:  This is Sweet Pea.  She tested negative and got her shots updated on Monday.  I placed her at our Elder Care Facility – in their workshop – on Sunday.  She was out of the carrier and taking it all in immediately.  That was better than when she was here for a week…she rarely came out when I was around but always ready for canned food!   UPDATE:  Sweet Pea will be released next Sunday.  The other cats were sitting on top of her cage when I was there last week.  Glad everyone is letting along.

BMG:  Emails without Phone Numbers or Locations
I am still amazed about how many emails I get with folks needing “emergency” information and they do not include a phone number.  Some don’t even include a location.  Recommendations are dependent on WHERE YOU ARE.  Info for the Dallas area is not the same as for the Houston area….much less Pennsylvania!!!!!!!!

TRANSITION UPDATE:   Interesting that Feral Friends now wants to do barning.  I had written them off several weeks ago and every retrieved the equipment I had given to them.  Hummm!  We shall see…   They are picking “low hanging fruit” in Fairview and Lucas.  They have a barn in Sanger but that is too far for them.  I will work with another group to get that one done.

Thanks for following the Barn Cats Blog.            Peg
