Catch up - 11/8/2010 - 11/13/2010

WOW – A Great Week!   All the planets must be aligned!

Tuesday we placed 8 in Van Alstyne at a sugar glider rescue location then picked up equipment North of Paris.  All 5 cats have been spotted in the Paris hay barn – always good!
Wednesday we placed 3 in Argyle, Thursday: 3 in Princeton, and Saturday: 3 in Pilot Point.  We also traded 2 to Animal Allies and 1 to Kitty Save for a grant total (drum roll please) of 20 for the week.

Thanks to Nancy Kuntz, she and the barn owner placed the Princeton cats in the hay loft…up the ladder with the equipment, litter box, etc.  It will be warmer for the cats up there over where the horses are kept at night.  Heat rises – so a loft is always good.  Plus coyotes cannot get up there and/or other predators.

I fully expect the placements to slow down considerably for the next several weeks due to Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.  BUT – we are enjoying it now.

We took in 6 cats from Decatur on Sunday – elderly man died, family sold the property, renter told to move in 3 days, and that would leave the cats there to be shot by the corporation that purchased the land.  BCI took the 6 (all males – BIG BOYS) and now need to get them vetted….nothing done, of course!  3 are not neutered and all need testing and shots.

We also took in a neutered declawed cat that was found in a parking lot in North Dallas.  The lady put the cat in her car and went to Operation Kindness that was near by.  They could not take the cat but gave her the Barn Cat number – go figure!   We had the lady deliver the cat to the vet where he tested negative and was given his shots.  “Jamie” is now loose in the cat room and is off the streets.

The cat we traded for to Animal Allies has turned out to be VERY FRIENDLY – lynx point, neutered, etc – He was given back to them because he was “tearing up the house”.  Well, that big boy slept will me last night….somebody is wrong about this guy!    Anybody need a lynx point?

Stay tuned for more Barn Cats as the weeks progress.  We are totally full AGAIN – story of our lives!
