Relocations and In Take:   Placed 14 this week with intake at 6.
2              Workshop/Garage in Cedar Hill (King, Tom)
6              Riding Stable in Dallas (6 from Clifton)
4          Barn in Tolar (Batman, Robyn, Oreo, Bandit)
2          Insulated shed in Collinsville (Velvet, Vinny)

I am taking 3 each week from a TNR situation in Clifton, TX.  They are having some rabies concerns even though these cats have had a rabies shot when they were neutered.  I can help until the end of July and then it will end until September.

Our Cats after Release:
1.     Flower Mound – Binx was placed in this home to be an indoor/outdoor cat.  Looks like he is working into the family pretty well.

June Closeout
We placed 47 in June (30 less than June 2014) which puts us 95 down YTD from last year.  Expect a slow July because of it is already so hot!  Then, August will be practically nothing.  It is what it is!   We placed those 47 is 5 North Texas counties:
            Dallas              Ellis                 Hood
            Denton            Grayson          Young

Bad Calls/EMAILS:  Two Hours Away – UPDATE
Never heard from her…so…???
FROM LAST WEEK:  People call and (it seems like) they expect you to rush right over there and trap the cats they are worried about.  WELL – the trapping needs to be done by the feeder or the person living near there then transported to Barn Cats after sterilization.  This person called on Saturday, is crying/crying/crying over the phone and has no transportation.  You know – I am sorry for the cats but there are only so many hours in the day.  We are dealing with 30 to 40 cats at a time and you are feeding 7…you do the math!   ALSO – we are now in our slow season due to the extreme heat.  I have to be very careful about putting cats in a HOT BARN in a cage for a 2-week relo period.  I took out fans with both relos this week but that only works if there is electricity in the barn/shed area.  So, I can help this person in September who is two hours away but only if she traps the cats and/or works with Feral Friends or some other TNR group to get them here.  I had to yell at her to get her to stop sobbing.  These people have little to do and obsess over the cats.  I gave her some options, asked her to decide what she wants to do, then call me back.   We shall see...

BMG:  Working to Get a New Vehicle
I hope to have a new Transit Connect to show you next week.  I had an appointment to drive a new one on Saturday…but…the salesman was not really familiar with that vehicle.  He sells cars.  We went for a test drive but that was about it.  But I just went into the sales room last time and bought one.  Why did he make an appointment to show me the vehicle unless he knows about the models and options?  Now I have a Monday appointment with a fleet salesperson to get this all sorted out.  Keep your paws crossed!

OMG:  Sign in the Country
This was in a front yard – is this even legal?  Don’t know…

“Thanks” for following the Barn Cats Blog.  See you all next week.      Peg
