Our Cats after Release:
1.     Cedar Hill – Max and Stella were placed in this garage in a neighborhood in Cedar Hill.  Max has not left the garage but Stella has gone to a neighbor’s home where there are other cats.  Guess the food was better over there!

Bad Calls/EMAILS:  Sorry New Jersey
I have started always asking what city the request is coming from.  With the internet, an email could be from THE MOON!  Lady wants me to take her cats in New Jersey.  There is a list at www.barncats.org of groups around the country that do some barning.  Seems like they could just find one there – I have done the work for them.  We take cats from the 37 north Texas counties and 5 southern Oklahoma counties that we service – there are plenty here!  If there is a national emergency – hurricane, tornado, etc. – then we can take some based on space available and the organization brings them to Texas.  I got 54 from Katrina over a 6-month period.  All went to barns except for Jimmy who stayed here.  He passed away last month.  I had him for 10 years.  He was a feral as they come but he enjoyed the cats in the house and made himself at home really easily.  RIP, Jimmy!

BMG:  UPDATE:  New Vehicle
NOPE – still no new Transit Connect.  Visited with the fleet person on Monday.  There are now 64 different codes (options) for these vehicles.  Before – just bring it out – all alike!  He worked to find one for us with the lift back rather than the back doors.  He located one at their dealership in Carrollton.  THEN – it took until Thursday for them to get that one up I-35 to Lewisville.  Go figure!  I would think the same company would be more responsive…guess not!  That one had the lift back but not the covered back window.  SO – now they have found one about 40 miles away at another dealership and will have it in Lewisville NEXT MONDAY!  We shall see…

OMG:  Placement of Cats from Fort Worth
I cannot just take cats from one location.  We get cats from various animal services organizations based on space available:  Hickory Creek, Highland Village, Tri-City, Lewisville, Flower Mound, Bedford, Fort Worth, Dallas, and on and on and on.  A volunteer has been housing some cats from Fort Worth for several months.  She took them in May when it was raining every day and placements were slow.  I have placement for them now and will take them in next week.  BUT – the barn owner is cleaning out from his mom and a brother (both hoarders).  This may not happen until the end of August but I will have them here if/when he decides to take them earlier.  At least they will be here and I will not have to worry about getting them in house when the time is right.

“Thanks” for following the Barn Cats Blog.  See you all next week.      Peg
