Blog 01/01/18 to 01/07/18

Seeking someone to take over Barn Cats, Inc.:  I would like to officially retire as Executive Director in 2019.  I can retain the fundraising pieces but would like to stop the relocations, equipment pickups, phone calls, and emails…the day-to-day stuff.  I will be available for consultation.  If interested call or email Barn Cats…972-315-2875 info@barncats.org

OMG (Oh My God):  Older Cat Passes Away

Relocations:   I placed 3 this week.  All will have heaters or heat lamps with them plus our double winter hidey boxes, rugs and blankets to cover the cages.  WOW IT WAS COLD!
1          Heated Workshop in Forney:  Ash
2          Heated Garage in Granbury (Monaco, Oreo)

Our Cats after Release:
1.     Forney:  Miss Charlotte and Thomas went to this workshop with a heated.  Thomas got sick so I picked him up and placed Ash there.  Miss Charlotte is going great and the kids love her.
2.     Leonard:  Gloria, Venus and Bay went to this barn.  All three have been spotted and 2 out of 3 are seen daily.  Gloria is friendly and is around all the time.  All is good in Leonard.
3.     Rhome:  Larry, Curly, and Moe went to this barn.  The 2 black ones are seen all the time.  I got the following picture of them but it is not very clear.

4.     McKinney:  Marvin, Kevin, and Barney went to this heated shed.  They are loose but still in the shed until the weather warms up a bit.  All doing well!
5.     Sanger:  Madera and Lola went to this back yard.  The family has fixed hidey boxes of them.  Lola is coming out of her box here.  Madera is out in the daytime but comes back to her hidey box at night.

6.     Richardson:  Ninja is “Everybody’s Friend” at his barn.  Everybody comes looking for him when they are on site.  VERY GOOD, NINJA!

Calls/Emails:  Cat Problem in Beaumont
A lady called from Beaumont.  “I just cannot continue to feed all these cats!  I want to retire but cannot afford this.”  She continued to talk and talk and talk.  I had to interrupt her – “How can I help you?”  Come to find out it all started with one calico…. “She has had 4 Litters!”  WHAT – YOU HAVE CAUSED THIS PROBLEM.  If she had gotten that calico spayed when she first arrived, this would not now be a problem.  Un-responsible people always caused these problem.  WAKE UP!  I gave her some info but she is outside our service area.  GEEZ!

OMG:  Older Cat Passes Away
I took in 3 older cats about the same time:  Sox is 12…Pumpkin is 10…Truman “was” 8.  Truman came from a local animal kill shelter.  Truman and Sox both came down with an upper respiratory infection at the same time on Saturday 12/30/17.  Dr. Patty met me at the clinic on Saturday night.  Both got Convenia, B-12, and fluids.  Sox is better – BUT – Truman passed away on Wednesday.  We are unsure what happened.  I have taken all the cats that are loose in the cat rooms in to get their shots updated just in case!   MYSTERY!  Because of this, I am not taking in new cats in until the first of February.

Thanks for following the Barn Cats Blog.            Peg
