Our Cats after Release:
Cedar Hill:  Blue, Callie, and Casey went to this barn in Cedar Hill.  All three came from Granbury where they were living in an HEB parking lot.  All 3 are still around.  The property owner has installed a cat house up high.  All 3 were in it when I was there.  You can see Blue’s head in the doorway.

There was also a new gate on the property – take a look:

Calls/Emails:   Cats at Valley View Mall--UPDATE
I have been taking cats from that location for years now.  It is surrounded by apartments so obvious what is going on.  FINALLY demolition is due to start in March.  Hope barn calls pick up before then so I can take more of them.  Would like it to be warmer, too.
UPDATE:  Trapping started last Thursday but nothing was caught.  They will try for 3 next Thursday.  I have a potential location for all of them but weather will need to be more stable.

BMG:   Microchip Problem
You will love this – A lady had been feeding a cat for about 1 ½ years.  She is moving.  The cat was already fixed so just needed updated shots and testing.  The vet scanned for a chip and THERE WAS ONE!   But – here is where the weirdness begins – The chip was implanted in 2008 and said the cat was 11 years old at that time.   NO WAY!   That means that cat is 22 years old now and with an extra time for her feeding – THE CAT IS 24 YEARS OLD!  Plus, the phone is disconnected so no way to check with the other folks.  This is was I think:  THE VET CLINIC RECORDED THE CHIP WRONG.  Maybe inverted some numbers or something.  We cannot check unless be put the cat under anesthesia again and that is not practical.  Guess we will never know unless she gets sick here and needs a Convenia or something.   She is a young cat so that age just does not work.   WEIRD!

OMG:   Older Cats
Received an email of a lady moving with two 8-year-old cats, one 9-year-old cat, and a 10-year-old cat.  They have always been outside and one of them only has 3 legs.  She is moving to Princeton and the HOA said no free roaming pets.  I cannot take cats that old – it is just not fair to them!  Remember the older barn cats went to our site in Anna, TX where they will be living out their lives.  I recommended to her that she install a CAT FENCE to keep them contained.  I hope she checks that out because I think it is the only SAFE answer for those older cats.

Charlotte, The Barn Cat Mascot:  My neighbor and I went to a Church’s Chicken location at Hwy 121 and Interstate 35 one day in 2010.  Some uncaring person had discarded a cat in their parking lot.  She was living under a shed.  We returned to the house, got a trap, and returned to the restaurant.  We caught her with no problem.  She turned out to be friendly – not feral at all.  We got her vet work done and she has been with me since that day in 2010. Last year she developed asthma and I have giving her daily pills since that time.  I took all 5 of the in-house cats for their yearly vet exams and shots last Wednesday.  The vet suggested he take an x-ray of Charlotte.  Well – she has a tumor in a lung.  As you can imagine this is not good news.  She is eating and drinking good but still losing weight.  I will make her comfortable until the end-time comes.  BUMMER!  She will certainly be missed but NOT YET!
