Relocations and In Take:   Placed 11 this week with intake at 11.
1          Adoption Group (Sonny)
3          Barn in Gordonsville (Peter, Tigerette, Gray Boy)
3          Barn in Franklin (Larry, Curly, Moe – from Grapevine)
1          Barn in Ponder (Simon)
3          Barn in Decatur (Skitch, Domino, Sister)

Our Cats after Release:  Picked up equipment in 3 locations this week.
1.      Melissa:  Edward, Geni, and Carmen sent to this garage in Melissa.  Saw Edward but he was off in a flash before I could take a picture.
2.      Gunter:  Cody and Jody were placed in a workshop off Main Street in Gunter.  We had placed 3 barn cats there in the early Spring this year and all are still around.  They have 3 donkeys and a Great Pyr…so….as safe as can possibly be for them.  Got a picture of Cody to share.

3.      Wichita Falls:  Mittens and Pickles went to this brick shed.  Mittens has gotten really friendly but Pickles remains elusive.  But both are doing well.  Mittens is the black/white in the photo below.

Bad Calls/EMAILS:  Fort Worth New Development
Oh boy – what a mess!   A developer has given apartment owners just a couple of weeks left to move.   Bunches are moving and abandoning both friendly and feral cats.  Estimate is 100 cats.  The abandoned dogs have been taken in by rescue groups.  I received a call from the new head of Fort Worth Animal Services to help with the project…but…they really need front end help with trapping, etc.  Some may be adoptable – so referred him to the Big Fix for Big D folks, the SPCA of Texas in Dallas and Feral Friends.  We can take “some” but never 100!  Plus this is not a good time because of the holidays approaching.   BUMMER!  Why can’t folks take their pets with them AND/OR at least work with a feral group to get those wilder cats relocated.

BMG:  Emails with No Phone Number
This happens all the time…. Someone emails a bunch of groups with an urgent problem and DONE NOT INCLUDE A PHONE NUMBER!   People are just not thinking anymore!

OMG:  Microchips WORK!
Received a call from Frisco Animal Services about a cat they had just picked up a cat that originally came from Irving where they micro chipped him…orange tabby named Sonny.  The chip was registered to Barn Cats which is OK.  After digging through my records from 2013, I found that he had been traded to an adoption group in McKinney who had since adopted him out to someone in Frisco.  NOW – don’t know if that person moved away and left him or what but it really does not matter because I will get him “out of jail” tomorrow and get him back to the adoption group.  Sonny will get a second or third chance for a good life!   GOOD LUCK, SONNY!  AND – many thanks to the person that invented micro chips!

“Thanks” for following the Barn Cats Blog.  See you all next week.          Peg
