Relocations and In Take:   I placed 16 this week.  Weather has been a problem. All cats are being placed with locations with heaters and/or heat lamps.
10        Adoption Group (3 kittens from Shreveport, 7 adults from LVAS)
3          Storage Shed in Denton (Canoli, Baguette, Brulee)
1          Shed in Highland Village (Sassy)
2          Carport in Santo (Motor Mouth, Mama Kitty)

Our Cats after Release:
1.     Valley View:  Cindy, Lucy and Linda are doing well with the other 6 at the Valley View barn.  I saw a gray tabby running around but did not get a picture.  The ranch manager says they have spread out to the hay barn (YES) and the rodent population is going down.  All good news!
2.     Corinth:  Zora, Gil, and Crush were placed in this workshop on church property.  All are hanging out.  They saw one of the black cats running the rafters chasing a rodent.  GOOD WORK!   They have a big dog house set up for them with 3 heat lamps for the really cold weather.
3.      Gainesville:  Dougie, Star, and Maizy were placed in this warehouse and offices in Gainesville.  The girls are hanging out in the office and Dougie is upstairs in the warehouse but comes down to eat.  ALL IS WELL and they are killing things…see:

Calls/Emails:  Communication Slow for the Holidays
THANK GOD!  There is always so much to keep up with that I am glad for the holidays and folks are not thinking about cats so much….it will change but will hope it continues until the new year.

BMG:   Runaway Cat:  UPDATE
A fuzzy, black feral was being delivered to Barn Cats on Wednsday afternoon.  The lady had him in a cage…not a carrier.  The bottom slipped out as she was coming up my front walk and the cat got out the bottom of the cage.  HE IS GONE!   She walked the neighborhood for two days but was not able to see him.  Food has disappeared from my front potch the last couple of nights but it is too cold to trap – in the teens at night!  But – I do nto know it he is the one eating the food or another cat or a ratcoon…which has happenned.  SO – we shall see.
UPDATE:  Food is disappearing each night but don’t know if it is that cat, another cat, or a racoon!  I am putting a trap on the front porch beginning Sunday when we will have a warming trend.  It was just too cold to perhaps have a cat sitting in a trap all night.  Keep your paws crossed!

OMG:  “Snakes on a Plane” – NO – In the Yard
Received a text from the Waco location there I placed 3 cats in October.  Socks, Cinnabun, and Irving (now Nacho) were placed here.  The property owners saw that Nacho had a rattle snake pinned against a tree in the yard.  The husband went over to see what was going on and then shot the snake.  This was really close to where their girls were playing.  This is sooooo scary!  GOOD JOB, NACHO!

Rudy:  RIP
Rudy was a young black cat with very thick fur.  He came from a local animal shelter in 2015 but had a leg that was broken in several places and healed wrong.  I decided he did not need to go to a barn with that bad leg…sooooo…another cat in the house.  It was obvious a week ago that he was not feeling good.  I took him to the vet, they knocked him out cause he is feral, and found that he had a buildup of hair around his rectum.  That was cleaned out and he returned home.  BUT – he still was not doing well.  X-rays looked “weird” but blood work seemed fine.  Next try would be exploratory surgery.  That was done last Monday and lymphoma was discovered.  Rudy did not wake after the surgery.  We did our usually group cremation and had Happy Hour in his honor.  This picture was after he was shaved last spring.  His fur was REALLY THICK.  RIP, Mr. Rudy.

Thanks for following the Barn Cats Blog.          Peg
